Which devices support Immersive Audio (Dolby Atmos)?

Your technical devices must meet certain requirements in order for you to be able to enjoy the new Immersive Audio sound format.

The following devices enable you to enjoy concerts in three-dimensional sound:

TVs and streaming players

Dolby Atmos technology is not integrated in some TV sets. However, Immersive Audio can still be delivered in combination with an appropriate external audio device.

Due to the large number of different manufacturers, we recommend that you find out the appropriate combinations for your device for yourself.

Android TV and Google TV

Android TV and Google TV from version 9 support Dolby Atmos technology. As a result, streaming media players with Android TV or Google TV version 9 or higher also support Immersive Audio when connected to an external Dolby Atmos-capable audio system.

Apple TV

Apple TV 4K devices with the operating system tvOS 13.4 or higher support Immersive Audio.

Chromecast

Chromecast devices with Google TV support Immersive Audio when connected to a Dolby Atmos-enabled TV or sound system.

Chromecast devices without Google TV cannot stream Immersive Audio.

Other TV models

The following models support Immersive Audio:

  • Fire TV sets from 2019
  • Panasonic TV and BDP models with “My Home Screen” from 2020, models with Dolby Atmos-enabled Android TV or Google TV, Panasonic models from 2017 that can receive the Digital Concert Hall in HDR, with a connected Dolby Atmos-enabled sound system.
  • Sony TV models with Dolby Atmos-enabled Android TV or Google TV
  • Philips TV models with Dolby Atmos-enabled Android TV or Google TV
  • LG TVs from 2016 offering UHD or 8K with a connected Dolby Atmos-enabled sound system

The following models will soon support Immersive Audio:

  • Samsung TV sets

Web

Only certain Apple computers with MacOS version 10.15 (Catalina) or higher installed support Immersive Audio when using the Safari browser.

Mobile devices

Amazon Fire Tablets

Amazon Fire HD 8 and 10 tablets support Immersive Audio.

Apple iPhones and iPads

Apple iPhones and iPads introduced in 2018, with iOS/iPadOS version 13.4 support Immersive Audio.

Android smartphones and tablets

Models from Android version 9 support Immersive Audio. In general, support depends on whether the hardware of the device is Dolby Atmos-capable.

Cast and other devices

Apple AirPlay

Immersive audio can be transmitted via Apple AirPlay.

Google Cast

Google Cast does not support Immersive Audio.
